Columbia Valley
Columbia Winery was founded in 1962 by ten friends including six University of Washington professors to demonstrate the potential of winegrowing in the Columbia Valley. David Lake served as head winemaker starting in 1979 and led production of Washington's first vineyard-designate wines and first Pinot Gris, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc wines.
