Founded in 1972 by John Shafer on a site with grape-growing heritage dating back to 1880, this boutique Napa winery is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, especially the flagship Hillside Select—a wine that regularly earns 96–100 points and has been named Wine Spectator's 'Top 10 Wine of the Year' multiple times. Under winemaker Elias Fernandez, Shafer continues to craft exceptional Chardonnay, Syrah, and other varietals from its distinctive vineyards, having been recognized as a founding benchmark of the Stags Leap District.
